The really disgusting part isn't necessarily that we're spending this much... it's that we're spending this much and the money is going to the company that brands and sells finished products, rather than the people who grow/produce/cultivate the raw materials and take on the often hazardous task of putting it all together. Developing countries export a shit-ton of stuff to the developed world -- they grow our food, our coffee and tea, our chocolate, they construct our clothing and our shoes
( ... )
I agree wholeheartedly with your rant and am especially sickened by corporate greed.
Naomi Klein touches on a lot of the labor issues you mentioned in her brilliant book (from a few years back), No Logo. If you ever see it, grab it.(She's from Canada, BTW.) =)
I've read it actually, it's a pretty big deal here in Canada ;) You're not a real leftie if you haven't read No Logo!
I'm fairly convinced that corporate greed is a huge part of what fucks everyone in developing countries... if people were paid a fair price, the world would be a very different place!

Sad that's the way things are but that presentation is quite accurate I think.
I ♥ You.

Europeans seem to consume a lot less than what I saw in America, and especially from such big conglomerate corporations.
You and I eat a lot of ice cream, indeed.
We's greedy . =/
