Well the reality is they take care of that. They do put your fire out without checking for insurance... and then they bill you, and if you don't pay they simply add it to your taxes as a lein:)

I don't know that it's consistent throughout the states or that they charge as a hospital might, with fees for every little thing, but I know as long ago as my teens I saw a friend get charged for the "running of the engine", and have understood that to be the case ever since.

Well, that's certainly good to know. Out of curiosity, I'll have to check out the policies of the Fire Dept. here, and also out on the farm in KY. I guess homeowner's covers a good deal of it (?), but being in a rural area, the FD fees might be outrageous. =/

OH MY GOD! We get FREE FOOTFIRE INSURANCE (FFFI) over HERE!
I ain't movin' there till yous guys have it too!
