• really horribly ugly neon dresses or cheap-80s-bedspread-print dresses that are unflattering even on stick figures

• any, and i mean any incarnation of the faux hawk. only straight-up mowhawks need apply

it's just occurred to me that the two times brian has decided to grow out his beard (he's had a short beard for ages out of dislike for his face rather than for hipsterly qualities) has been during the early summer. does seem like a rather bad choice of times. especially in tx.

yea that is odd...i would think it keeps your face warm!
i actually like short beards; they fit well on some faces. but the really long beards just seem weird to me. like it has to be a 'fashion' choice at that point...unless you're really THAT lazy.

I used to have a really long goattee. it was annoying and sometimes my chin would hurt from it.

I've never worn a neon dress though.

hahaha, yea, i remember long goatees in the 90s....that was pretty horrific but lots of guys were doing it. now i can't even stand a short goatee. it just smacks of REALITY BITES. lol

friends tend to have similar styles, i get that. but if i went out and looked almost identical to like 4 or 5 of my friends, i'd opt to change at that point.

Having lunch in Williamsburg yesterday prompted repeated comments of WTF regarding what people might have been thinking when they put on clothes that day. That neighborhood seems to be fairly rapidly losing people who have a style clue.

funny thing is, those kids think they live in the style mecca, and so does the rest of the world. but once everyone looks like ugly beard clones it's just not stylish anymore. soon there's going to be a barefaced backlash, i just know it. ugh.

Actually I think the fact that the world thinks it is the style mecca might be part of the problem, the people that actually LIVE there are the ones complaining the loudest about what the hell seems to be happening to their neighborhood (or at least the people that have lived there a while). I have heard in the last week multiple conversations about just that thing from long-time residents. And yeah I agree on the backlash, I think it is already happening.

I talked to someone (not a hipster by my measurements, but whatever) who grew his beard out all long and wild. He himself called it "woman repellent".
