I'll tell you what I was thinking about the other day. Where does all the money go? All the productivity? What keeps the rich, rich and the poor, poor? And I came up with two things, banking,(specifically interest on loans)and rent. So I thought, "what if banks were publicly owned instead of private?" What if instead of operating to make huge profits they operated like a non-profit organization? Then people could pay realistic prices for their property and not spend nearly all their money on rent. And if the bank made a profit at the end of the year they would distribute that profit back into people's accounts according to how much they had paid. Then people would have alot more free cash to spend on products and services and the economy would prosper because the money is no longer being consolidated in the hands of the super rich who don't actually produce anything anyway.
yeah I know. And I'm mostly for capitalism. But it's such a captivating idea. Sigh. My other idea was that instead of making private banking illegal, just introduce a non-profit public banking system and out-compete the private banks. That's a little more american.
