Almost Saiyonara
Well, my time in Japan is almost up. For those you who don't know, I am leaving Japan on Monday, however, I am not quite returning to Canada yet. And people wonder why the Japanese are so patient.

Rabbit still clinging to life - but can't afford the medical bills
Time for the latest update in the Nova saga.
I'm going to say that most of the foreign teachers working for Nova signed up for JMA insurance; which is a part of the Nova Group. According to the latest nearly all JMA holders will no longer be covered as of November 1st (there are, of course, a few exceptions).

Rabbit still holding on... for now
Got a phone call from my Japanese branch manager about half an hour ago. They had a meeting last night to explain what the current situation is. What a champ he is! Calling me up to tell me what was going on, and in English no less. He even pre-empted my AAM (foreign manager). Well, my AAM is probably like me doing what I was doing; sleeping in. Monkey vs. Bunny
Nova is represented by a rabbit mascot (with a beak of all things - it makes sense to the Japanese, you really want to know, ask in the comments). The (ex-)president's name translates as monkey bridge. So I finally got paid! Yay! Let's hope the trend continues.
In other work related news - I have a new schedule:
Sun/Mon: off
Tues: 1:20-5:40
Wed: 1:20-9
Thurs: 10-5:40
Fri: 1:20-9
Sat: 10-5:40
This of course is all subject to change dependent upon Nova needs :P -
Broken Record Syndrome
Seems like everytime I call my boss to find out what's going on with pay and stuff, he only has one answer: "I'm really sorry mate, I don't know what's going on. All I know is that pay has been delayed until tomorrow." I feel for the guy - I really do - after all, it's not his fault ( Read more... )
