Update

[EDIT: link now points to a .avi version - should be easier for people to view. Was going to try you-tube but the file was too long :( (must be under 10mins)]
So, yeah, it's been a while. I've been busy as have you. But on the plus side, I have a new toy. Makes it easy to update. Check out the following movie to see what I mean :)

Hey Maggie, it wouldn't let me load your video. I'll try again later.
Those dolls are pretty cute! I want one!

i will try and convert it to an avi and put it up or something... as was commented elsewhere, you need the newest version of quicktime, and a lot of patience for it to download.
When you come over, a trip to Takayama is definitely in order :) (although you can buy sarubobo's in Gifu-shi too...)

The video does not seem to want to load? I guess you will have to give a verbal description or go back and do the trip again :)

Thank you for the link and the advice Eric-kun! :D That program is actually very easy to use and very fast too! I will look into youtube, although for some reason I'm a bit wary of teh u-tube... also, I seem to recall reading an lj news post about lj not letting people embed videos into posts, but I could be wrong about that...

As for the camera itself, it's really nice. Pretty light, easy to use, and a nice anti-shake feature, which I will use for sure because I have shaky hands :P The photos are nice and big too. The only problem I forsee is that it takes SD cards, and I only have a 1gb card right now.. which is fine for photos, but only takes, on HD setting about 15mins of video. However, on the size and setting I took yesterday's video on, it could take about 3 or so hours. The quality was still really good, but I'm thinking of putting them on DVD so I can show my grandkids about what Japan was like before it was completely westernized :P Anyway, here is a link to the camera a bought.

it is a bit smaller as an mp4... if I had done a straight conversion (and not clipped the fps) it would have been a lot smaller; and yeah higher quality ftw.

lol. Eric! Me, not cutting edge? Surely you jest. I want to be cutting edge - I just don't usually have the money to pay for that edge to cut. However, now I do (in no small part thanks to the generosity of my parents - who are undoubtedly the best parents in the world...). Next on the list, a Nintendo Wii - assuming I can ever find one of course :P

I guess that is true about the SD cards - I could just carry a bunch of them around given they are so small.

Hey, I didn't say whose grandkids now did I? I know I am most certainly not ready to have kids - I like the littles, just don't want them around all the time right now... tsk tsk.. jumping to conclusions...

I had no trouble viewing this as soon as it was opened in another window. Dad came in and watched it with me too. Nice presentation (I see a bit of your teaching methods coming through - lol) and very enjoyable. You are looking well and the hair cut is not too short at all. I had meant to ask you if you did get it cut but kept forgetting. I am glad to see you wearing the new track suit, so it fits ok then. We were afraid that the clothes might be too small. At least they looked that way to us in the store.
So there are no pictures from your trip --- too bad. Hopefully Paul will have some you can snatch from his site.
As always, Love Mom

I'm glad you enjoyed it and were able to get it to work on your computer.
Yeah, my soul has been completely corrupted by Nova, what can I say :P
The clothes fit just fine :) As I said earlier, the shirts may in fact be a tad too big.. but the track suit fits just fine (and the jacket is nice to wear when it's chilly in the house.. or always :P ).

I finally got it o load at home using windows XP and Quicktime. I think if you do not have Windows XP and the lastest quicktime, it won't open.

You are looking good kid. Send some videos of the views from your apt and from your office.

Love Dad

It's because it's an mp4.. the newest thing.. and used more by Quicktime/Apple than windows (they prefer avi.. which they made). However, I have just converted it, and will put up that version to make it easier for everyone :)

Glad you enjoyed it... and those videos are next on the list :)
