It could very well be moths. Just because you don't see them flying, doesn't mean they aren't there. Plastic tubs w/ tight lids are your best friend. Use 'em. I keep all my yarn and stuff in them (partly to keep track of it all) to make sure nothing eats it. It it still salvageable?
This yarn was actually in a plastic bin. Luckily this was the only thing woolly in the box, so I don't think anything else is infested. My primary box is still okay (I hope).

So it makes me even sadder. I've been putting of making cedar/lavender/clove sachets for all my wool so I've been lucky (maybe) so far but this might make me rethink....
The chewability is the yuck of actual wool. Plus it's the larval form that eats it, isn't it? And larva makes me scream like a girl. I'd probably spin polyester if wool wasn't cheaper.

I was thinking of getting some cedar blocks, but cedar/lavender etc only deters the buggies, it dun kill them, and I want them dead for trespassing D:
It was really my fault for putting it in that box. There was a lot of "old" stuff, like books and clothes in there to begin with. I just kinda threw this ball in there, because I needed a place to stash it. Serves me right i suppose.
I actually got this really nice merino/rayon blend at the fiber festival I went to in Pitts, so you CAN spin polyester if you really wanted to! It didn't cost too much either. 1lb = $15. Not bad at all if you ask me.
