A little bit of green in my day

I went grocery shopping at Lucky's this morning. (Yes, I was supposed to be at church, but it is awfully difficult to get up at 7:30 when you didn't go to sleep until 2.) Anyway, as usual, I brought my canvas bags with me. I'm trying to make a habit of carrying them with me anytime I go shopping; I simply hate bringing home yet more plastic bags ( Read more... )

I have reusable produce bags. They're made of a sturdy net and have a drawstring through the top. You can purchase them at whole foods, or online if you want to look for a bargain :) They're great.

Ooo! Thank you for the tip. I got online and purchased some today! Along with those reusable produce bags for use in the fridge once I get my haul home. Yay!

You're going to love them :) At least I do. I just grab a handful of them and stuff them inside a cloth grocery bag, and keep the whole thing in my car. I even take them in with me when I am at the drugstore, because I am sick of getting plastic bags!

Wow. That's neato. In some countries, they charge for the bags. I totally think we should go that way to incent individuals to do the right thing.

Ikea now charges you 15 cents for a bag. I brought my own bag when I went this past weekend. Yes, we are trainable!

LOL. That actually makes sense considering IKEA is based in another country. I'm just wondering if this sort of thing is taking off in other states as well, or if we Californian's are just too progressive for the rest of our rather lagging country.
