Hmmmm....! Food for thought! After having been a member for over a year, today was the first time that I attended a meeting organised by the Madras Book Club! Now that is good to read.

Only yesterday someone was mentioning the rich "culture" of South India as hurled at an unsuspecting North Indian who of course had had none of it. Perhaps the brethren fronth eNorth had forgotten what it was to be an Indian. Another very brahminesque homily someone threw was that even the Brahmins of North India had forgotten how to conduct prayers...)

I guess this may also be pontificatory literature for the re education of the vast uncultured masses of the country.

Hey !!! Frankly one needs to read this to see what it is about. I was only talking about popular lore as it seethes and writhes in the hippocampal neurons of our mind.

In fact, it IS very interesting...as I said.. easy reading because it is not just one L-O-N-G treatise on History, Art, Society & Culture, but a book with several small articles, neatly and cogently tied together under meaningful headings!

If you do find the book in your parts of the country... read and enjoy! Its basic!
