I've never read any books by David Gemmel (who died last Friday), but I know many friends who are fans and who I thought would like this. It's from officialgaiman (a feed from Neil Gaiman's blog - in case the name doesn't give it away) and is a lovely obituary - especially the first paragraph, which I think is the reaction we all have in such circs:

Jesus, I didn't know he was dead...

I've read, and enjoyed, a few of his books (often forced on me by my brother-in-law who was a huge fan of his). I, probably unfairly, suspected him of Eddings-ism.

I didn't know he'd died either - Mr TD told me yesterday. I think he'd been in hospital for a major operation.

On a side note, we were watching Finding Nemo last night, there was a sad moment when we remembered who did the voice for Jacques...

I read a review of Cars describing the film as 'John Lasseter and Joe Ranft bring us...' He was the Co-director and co-story writer on Cars. :-(
