i think i know the roman ruins you speak of. are they just above a large church, i think it's called st. mary magdalene or something, looking over the river? a good friend of my best friend's brother-in-law (still with me?) had an apartment up there!! the walk up the stairs was brutal, i can't imagine carrying groceries home, but the apartment was BEAUTIFUL!!! and there's roman ruins in your front lawn!!
and piazza bra!! during x-mas, they have a large steel girder sculpture of a star, painted white and all lit up, coming out of the arena and "landing" in the middle of the piazza. it's fantastic!!
i'm sorry you're getting sick (and skip isn't there to feed you chicken soup), but i'm sooooo glad you're having a great time. when i get back, we'll have to have a picture-showing party!!!
