This may end up being seen everywhere, but this is a very important topic for us here at itsyour_reality.steal [steel]stole, sto·len, steal·ing-verb (used with object) 1. to take (the property of another or others) without permission or right, esp. secretly or by force: A pickpocket stole his watch.
2. to appropriate (ideas, credit, words, etc.) without right or acknowledgment.
It all sounds very ominous, doesn't it? Unfortunately, that's what's happened.
Fellow Modsaurus seasidh has discovered that the fics of several authors have been taken-as far as we can tell, without permission (without our permission at least, so we feel it's safe to assume that the others have not been asked as well)-and reposted in another language. Please understand, first and foremost, that this is illegal. It is a copyright infringement to repost someone's work without their permission, fanfic or not. Please also understand that we are not against the translating of fics in the interest of sharing them with those that cannot speak or read English. But the fact remains that it must be done with the author's permission.

Thank you to elfi_maloi for letting us know of the difficulties in contacting the moderator of Diary.ru, and for alerting us to more of the fics that have been translated and posted that aren't on the list.

alyssamuse has come forward and offered to remove any and all of the translated works per request of the author. She has also kindly offered to translate feedback into English for those interested in reading it.

Now, I'm not fluent in Russian, but thankfully, Google.com has a handy option of translating a page. I'm sure this isn't a fully accurate translation, but here's what that basically says, according to Google:You are trying to do something is not quite right.

Now, I don't want to beat a dead horse, but when I see something that says 'Access restricted,' it tells me that what I requested hasn't been removed, it's only been hidden. If it had been removed, I should have gotten a page that says 'Page cannot be found' right?
For the record, here is a little information on copyright infringement, so that people can understand why people may be so upset over this:Copyright infringement (or copyright violation) is the unauthorized use of material that is covered by copyright law, in a manner that violates one of the copyright owner's exclusive rights, such as the right to reproduce or perform the copyrighted work, or to make derivative works.
The illegal use of text content is a form of copyright infringement. It is common on the world wide web for text to be copied from one site to another without consent of the author.
We were assured that our fics would be removed. The people involved were very cooperative and were able to work out a compromise. And now, suddenly this new development, and we can't even look to see the feedback or to make sure they've linked back to the original works, as requested per the compromise.
Could someone please tell us why, suddenly, this has changed? Our first reaction is anger and frustration that our wishes were not met. Any clarification would be lovely, as we don't want there to be any unnecessary hostility between anyone, but with this, it's a bit difficult not to think that we've been deceived. It lowers trust levels, however unjustly.
