Does anyone know what I can take to ward off a sore throat (possibly developing into laryngitis) and a "cold" before it hits me full force? I canNOT afford to be sick this weekend!
Sleep as much as you possibly can. And every moment you're awake, be pushing fluids (try to see how many times you can pee in an hour, and then try to break that record...seriously!)
Take zinc. For this, either buy zinc tablets and take 2 a day (but make sure to take them with food!) OR try cherry-flavored cold eeze, and just suck on those all day.
DO NOT consume citrus. Vitamin C and Orange Juice (and the like) only help to PREVENT you from getting sick in the first place, but once your immune system has been compromised, it does very little good, and citrus actually nullifies the effects of the zinc.
So yes to zinc and water and sleeping. No to orange juice.
Some of my friends swear by this herbal supplement called "Airbourne." You can usually get it in little tubes at most pharmacies. It's pretty expensive but tasty, if nothing else.
Some of my other friends eat searingly hot Thai food. They say the Capsaicin in hot peppers is antimicrobial because it irritates the tissue in your throat, heating it and killing off bacteria.
I can't vouch for either of these methods -- my immune system is pretty badass and I don't get sick often. c_c Good luck, at any rate.
My immune system is usually pretty faithful, too. A couple of months ago, I went over to a friend's house, a person I really wanted to see, risking catching what he had, and ended up NOT getting sick afterwards (which pleasantly irritated him, a "no fair" attitude) *grins*
Tribe is totally foreign to me and I can never figure out how to properly search for people. x_x I'm Luminesc over there, too, though, if you can find me.

Too much zinc is bad, so don't over-dose.
