Recently I have heard many opinions about Christians and Christianity, Politics and other such. I thought this might be a good time to get my opinions out there. Remember that the statements contained herein are my own, and do not reflect the opinions of the station. ;P ( Read more... )

I very thoughtful and unsually long post. :)
I fing myself agreeing with you. It's not the general public that's a pain. It's the extremists. I find that I have to take news and discussions on politics/religions in moderate doses or else I get all pissed off.
So, what is your take on Mr. Blackwell?

Mr. Blackwell....
Don't know that much about the man. I know that he is currently Secretary of State. I have also been informed that he supported Issue 1, the amendment to the Ohio State Constitution that says that the HubbyCubbie and I cannot be married. For that he has earned my ire. Not something easily done.

It annoyed me that he made this into an issue by saying it would affect the finances of the community which was not the case. I guess he couldn't get enough of a vote out due to hate.

All right... what is something that you tend to be extremist about? Or perhaps passionate would be a better word. Basically, what is something that you find yourself having trouble seeing the other side of, or something that you feel you see the other side of, but you just can't get yourself to give it any credit because it just feels wrong.

Very little, actually. The debate about gay marriage could be one of them, but then again I may be biased.

I tend to agree with you on the religious ideas. I'm nominally Christian, but don't belong to a church because of other chrsitians. Also, the fact that I believe other religions are just as valid as mine tends to piss the rest of the church off ;).

I'm libertarian, and most of the issues with liberals tend to come around the money end of things, I think. I agree with a lot of the social issues of democrats, but believe that they should be privately funded and not publicly. I agree with you that any individual here is not the group as well. I dont agree with many main points of my owm party either.

How has your outlook on politics and religion changed as you've gotten older and seen more of the world?

In theory, it would be beautiful. In practice, however, it doesn't happen. There are those few who would take advantage of the system, leading those who were supporting it to say, "Why should I work my rear off to support those lazy people?" People already say that, but now they have the government as a scapegoat.

As I have been bombarded by negative views in both politics and religion, I have shifted from an across the board, neutral/positive to an across the board, negative view of both politics and religion. No one political party is better than another, no one religion is better than another, and all seem to view me as persona-non-grata, for some view or another.
