We had a kid selling papers come to our door last week. He said they were running a specail which was 6 months of paper for $5. Pretty good deal, right? But, like you, I'm not really into newspapers. I wouldn't mind getting the Sunday paper though, so I asked how much that would be. His reply: $22/month. For four papers a month. Ridiculous. Personally, I feel that newspapers are ecologically wasteful. That's why I don't subscribe.

I have no idea how much the paper is here but we kept getting it for free for like months at one place I lived. Yeah, the Sunday paper is the real edition. The week days are just filler to sell people on the subscription idea.
