I remember that game very well. My father and I are not baseball fans, but, we both were watching with joy as we saw a Florida team win a major sports title. He grew up a Dolphins fan (as did I because the Jag's were not around, and the Buc's sucked when I picked my favorites), he had watched the Phish win a couple of super bowls, where I had never seen a championship team ever aside from FSU's 1993 National Title.

Just for me, I believe that Florida owns:
1 Stanley Cup
3 Super Bowls
1 NBA Championship
2 World Series

Not bad work for the last 10 years where it was only 2 Super Bowls.

Let's not forget NCAA championships:

2 Baseball Champions (1999, 2001 Hurricanes)
3 Football Champions (1999 'Noles, 2001 'Canes, 2004 Gators)
2 Basketball Champions ('06, '07 Gators)

I'm just going on the last 10 years, mind you. Not to mention we've hosted 4 Super Bowls (XXXIII, XXXV, XXXIX, XLI). We've done pretty good for a state in the last decade...well, sports-wise, anyway.

Only 4 SB's? I thought it was more like 6/8. How many in Tampa? JAX has one.

XXXIII was in Miami, XXXV was in Tampa Bay, XXXIX was in Jax, and XLI was in Miami. I thought there were more too, but not so according to Wikipedia.

Still, 4 SB's in a decade is pretty good for one state. :)
