Good luck with the long term sub! I hope you get it! Given the teacher's past absences, maybe the job will extend to the whole year. Those kids need some continuity it sounds like. Good luck!

I am hoping that it would turn out to be longer than 3 weeks. I'm in quite a bind because I already have three weeks worth (though not five days a week) of work lined up all at one school. (I've already done two weeks there.) So if I get the job, I'd have to cancel out on all those jobs and I don't feel like it would be worth it if this long term is only three weeks. I also didn't say anything to the other school about the possibility of this long term job which I've been feeling guilty about...

Hey, if this is the job you were looking forward to, then congratulations. It is a sub rather then permanent. But it is long term, so that's great. I was wondering. Do you get benefits if you are a sub? As in Health insurance, etc.

Thanks, Rachel! I'd of course been hoping for a regular full time teaching position, but long term sub jobs are also good for me. I don't think that there would be benefits. I'm covered under Jeff so I don't really need them anyway.

It's a very good sign that you were recommended. With more choices, I hope that everything will work out for the best.

I'll say a prayer for your mom's surgery.

Thanks for both, Kate! I'm really psyched that I was recommended. As I said to Lisa, though, I'm feeling guilty about already having 3 weeks worth of work (though not five days a week) lined up all at one school that I would have to cancel and I didn't say anything to the school about the possibility.

Well, AMEN to both pieces of news. How did the interview go and how did you break the bad news to the school you're currently subbing at?

I'm so glad they diagnosed the problem with your mom. She has been in my prayers and although I wish she didn't have to go through lumbar surgery, at least she's moving in a positive direction. Please keep us up-to-date on her recovery.
