A group of librarians in my district and I are doing a book study on the book, It's Complicated, by Danah Boyd. The book is about how teens use the internet. Hope things are going well for all of you! I have my countdown to summer calendar going in earnest, otherwise all is good.

The Reason I Never Get Anything Done
I just got home, and the time is 7:30 PM. At about 8:30, it will be time to get ready for bed.
An hour left of my evening. An open, unplanned hour. How should I spend it?- Cleaning? Boring.
- Laundry? Boring.
- A quilt project even though I'll only just have made a little progress before I have to stop?

Gothic Novels--an epiphany
Our school had an author come and visit yesterday, Rosemary Clement-Moore. She was awesome! She has written five novels, but the two I've read and Love are The Splendor Falls and Texas Gothic. (The other three are probably really good and they are each on my To-Be-Read pile.)

First full day--no cable TV
Yesterday, we stopped the Cable TV. Our reasoning is that 1. we both have a lot to do between now and Christmas and 2. I just watch way, way too much TV. Julie is also happy to be saving money...except that she bought a roku box for her TV and I bought a satellite radio to make up for the music channels I no longer have. Poetry
I'm going to try and do a two minute lesson on poetry today...just a quick intro to some aspect...either meter or villanelles. I'm nervous though.
With changes in testing the Reading teachers have to include more poetry. But the Reading teachers are intimidated or afraid, and that is making me nervous. What if I do a horrible job and these bad ( Read more... ) -
a Good day
Today has been a good day for me.
1. For lunch, I had a bacon-tomato sandwich with the fresh sourdough bread I baked last night--I'm so excited that my sourdough is coming out well!!!
