This really got me! I love Tony-centric fics, especially ones that explore the fact that, even though he grew up rich, there was a lot of emotional deprivation that went along with that.

I'm glad you liked it--and yeah, I totally think (and the movie!canon really hits us over the head with it) that Tony had a very pathetic childhood, despite the excess of wealth and luxury--whereas Steve had a very little in the way of material goods and access to basic necessities like health care, but had a loving parent and friend and support system as a young kid (until everyone started dying on him, and then he "died" on them).
Aww, yay. I have a weakness for stories where Steve reaffirms that he totally does love Tony (despite what Tony's messed-up childhood has made him believe about human affection) and this hit the spot.
