I was just wondering how you were doing the other day, and TA-DA! What timing you have!
Sounds like the big city is treating you well enough, just make sure you are careful while scouring the streets of DC for your various hippy indulgences. I think the crime rate is rather horrible down there, then again, maybe they cleaned things up.
Either way, take care and good luck with the job search!
it really depends on which quadrant you're out and about in as far as crime goes. i'm in northwest, which is really not bad if you keep your wits about you and don't do anything that would put you at obvious risk.
hippy indulgences? okay.. well.. i'll accept that i guess.. but i'm not sure the hippies would have appreciated the fancy bar-height granite table i bought. i'm actually working with this really fun kind of mod decor right now.. it's pretty fun!
i had an interview today with the policy research institute.. it went great actually. so i'm optimistic.
thanks for your warm wishes! hope you are doing okay!
i am psyched. and so jealous of your lovely dc life ;) sounds like you guys are off to a fine start, and i hope things continue that way and job-hunting goes well. you might not find your dream job at first, but you will. you're a smartie :)
if you'd like, i would love to be your pathetic pa pen pal! we should swap addresses - i love getting and sending funky mail, and maybe eventually i can even send you that purse ;)
you're such a dear and i'd be more than psyched to catch up with you and stay in touch on a regular basis! i love snail mail myself and i think the pen pal idea is fabulous! and i can't wait to see what you've done with the bag. email me your address (ashleymartin83@yahoo.com) and i'll reply with mine!
Whenever I come down to visit you I'll bring my drill. I have a good cordless one! Yep, I'm handy now!!
And if you come up to see me again I'll make sure you sleep next to the roach spray. Because Philly has roaches.
And keep an eye out for more medical studies. I know lots of people in Philly here who pay their rent every month via medical studies at Penn. I'm sure DC has plenty of them too. Some pay a few thousand bucks for a weeks work! And no, none of my friends have ever had any serious problems of side effects from it. It's pretty safe.
And, on the bright side, being in DC you're actually about the same distance from me as you were in Bloomsburg (strange but true!) so it's unlikely that we'd lose touch (especially since I like DC more than Bloomsburg).
oh great! the drill would be a wonderful help. i'm impressed with your advancements in the realms of fashion and handiness. :)
you have roaches??? you might have wanted to bring this to my attention when i slept on your floor for days!!!! i have an intense phobia of those critters. i am constantly thinking about them in the apartment. i may need roach therapy if i ever see a live one! yes, i know i'm ridiculous.
i had an interview today that i believe went really well... so let's hope i'm employed soon! i actually noticed we're not too far apart somehow, which is great. you should really come visit soon.. as far as i know we don't have bugs! not that you seem to care either way.
My fashion has stumbled somewhat. *shrug* I go back and forth. What can I say? I'm still wearing pink though! I have a pink t-shirt on right now.
As for the roaches... yeah, we have a few. I used to be petrified of them too. Now I've killed enough of them so I know how superior I am! Mwhahaha... Er... well, anyway, I know I can kill those disgusting motherfuckers, so I'm not scared of them anymore. They are grosse though. Don't worry, they're not really in the living room, so where you slept was OK.
Good luck with that interview. I'm hoping to be able to come see you before I start school. I think it would be harder after that. I'll have to talk to Kerrie about it, because I think she wants to come too.
don't tell anyone I'm using livejournal. ;) just kidding. anyway, i'm glad to hear DC is treating you well, culture, organics, and easy access wine. sounds much like europe really, minus the health care. you should e-mail me, we'll catch up cyber-style (no sexual connotations intended), and pretend like we're in a coffee shop.
