Where in the world?

It's so hard, trying to pick a spot that will be my home for the next five years. I want to go back to school, and I want to do it sooner rather than later, which means I can't keep jumping around like I have been. And once I'm in said semi-permanant location, I'll need to hang around for a year or two before I even start school to gain residency ( Read more... )

I have a few friends in Eugene. They have never indicated that they don't have everything they need in town, nor do I really hear of them trekking to Portland or other cities on a regular basis...

It seems like a nice area.

San Francisco is very expensive, and it gets more expensive the further south you go of it. It's not really a big deal if you get jobs that are within the standard living brackets you are used to and whatnot but I know it was a bit of a shock the first time I was there.. Monterey is amazing. It's so beautiful.

1. Portland is an awesome city. Green, clean, friendly, lots to do. Unfortunately, not only does it rain 9 months out of the year, but it is generally overcast and gray in the winter months, so you don't see the sun for a while. I can deal with cold and rainy if when it's not rainy, it's usually sunny. Not the case in the Pacific Northwest. (I went to school in Tacoma, Washington and spent some time in Pdx.) If I were to decide to move back to the pnw, I would definitely choose Portland ( ... )

Thanks for all the feedback! All this stuff is good to know and will be taken into consideration. :)

I'm still deciding what to study in school, but it will probably be interior design. I'd like to do architecture, but ultimately I'm afraid it wouldn't be a good fit for me, as my brain has trouble understanding the concepts of math and science. If I didn't do interior design, I'd go with photography, creative writing, or oenology/viticulture.
