One Really Good Final Post

Oct 09, 2011 11:03

This blog needs one really good final post to send it into the sunset…and before you ask, "no"…this isn't it ;)

I will put forth the second-to-last post, though: "What's your old Borders store now?"  That is, what happened to the building?  Mine looks like it's been rented by a seasonal Christmas store.

Store # 003 Madison, WI anonymous October 9 2011, 16:11:30 UTC
Is being converted into a retail branch for the university credit union. Certain amount of irony for me, in that I left Borders to work at that credit union. That was years ago, and I've worked several places since then.

Oh, God, that makes me sick. I loved that store!! It kept its eclectic look and feel, thanks to your unrepentant GM, Steve, even when it moved into its new digs and even with all the corporate dictates. It was an awesome place and one of the reasons I loved to visit Madison. Every time I was in Madison, I spent time in that store and always made it my last stop before leaving town. The staff was really knowledgeable and I found -- and bought -- books there that I never saw in any other Borders. I'd go back home to my Borders and talk about all the cool stuff they were doing at 3.

RIP, Store 3.

Steve? Michael was the GM of store 3. Not that it matters anymore. Just sayin' ;)

That space had been the home of Lord & Taylor for 30 years before being converted into a Borders. Can't wait to see how it looks next.

Random question, but no better place to ask: does anyone know what went into the space of the Waldenbooks in the Palouse Mall across from the U of Idaho campus?

Temporarily, a Halloween Adventure.

Ours is a Halloween City. And even though their store is large, they're not using even half of our space.

Mine converted to Halloween City too. It's ridiculous. It's a 24,000 sq foot store and there must be only $5 on average of merch per square foot. Also, it's the 29th of October and you'd think they'd have 6-7 registers at the POS manned at all times. NOPE. 2 regs, usually one being operated, and lines out the door. so bloody inefficient.

Ghost run wild in our store anonymous October 9 2011, 19:53:48 UTC
Ours is still empty. It has Borders debris still laying around. I don't even think the landlord has been inside. so sad. I loved that store. :(
