Yesterday began productive and then took a nosedive
I woke early yesterday, a little after 6, and thought to bestir myself and get my errands done before the rain set in - supposedly around 11 am. Even though I wouldn't let myself go back to sleep I couldn't drag my ass out of bed until nearly 8 am. What a perfect fall day!
Strange though that we should have a perfect fall day on August 4th. In Missouri. Land of heat and humidity in the summer months. It was downright coolish this morning when I left for work just before 6 am. Unfortunately I had to spend the first 2 hours of my shift manning self-checkout. Arrgh! So...tired
Last night no matter what I tried I couldn't get to sleep until way too late. I finally drifted off somewhere between 11:30 and midnight and the alarm went off at 2 am. *headdesk* Luckily there was very little going on at work today. last night's sleep was...strained, at the very least
I went to bed at my usual time yesterday, about 5:30 pm. I read for awhile and the last time I looked at the clock it was about 6:30. I must have dropped soon after but just before 7 I was awakened when Phouka, sleeping beside me, launched himself across my body and dove for the closet. I thought WTF!? I'm too lazy for my life, too lazy for my life so lazy it's sad
I made the strategic decision today to do nothing. Or at least as near to nothing as I can get away with. That includes not doing laundry. I just needed a day to recuperate before starting the new week. The heat wave has finally broken with a hellacious storm that's currently pounding the area. The big light out back has gone out about 4 times for a minute or so each time and my lights keep flickering and have gone out for a few seconds. The heat wave may be broken but it's not cool enough to sleep without at least a fan. And I fear for my big $3 ( Read more... ) -
Some people got big brass balls - even the women
I stopped my first would-be high dollar thief today. A woman came through my checkout line and set a small item that came to less than $3.50 down on the counter. When I gestured to the huge flatbed cart filled with plants she said she paid for it outside but then remembered she needed something inside. I am not a girl of summer
Not only do I not enjoy hot weather but as I get older it effects me quite adversely. We are currently in the middle day of a 3 day intensely hot spell - hovering around a 100 with oppressive humidity. I wish like hell I didn't have to leave the apartment and my a/c but I was not only scheduled to work today but I also volunteered for a shift ( Read more... ) -

Monday was Employee Appreciation Day at work. They fed us which is always nice. When I first started working at Walmart they fed us on such a day too. At first it was nice even if it did all come from the store deli area - a taco bar, fried chicken with all the trimmings, etc. Then it became either Walmart brand frozen pizzas or those thin little ( Read more... ) -

One of the newer cashiers at work - still temporary, they won't make decisions on permanent employees for about another month - is Emily. Emily is a very sweet girl around 20.
