Surely 2010 was two years ago. 1999 was five years ago. The turn of the century was the recent past. Songs capture the sounds of dreams. I saw a Buster Keaton film from 1922. I never lived in that year, but it all seemed familiar.

There is a TV program on now. I have a whole series to watch. It is the type of television which is a bit too clean and neat. In real life, I talk to people. It is a part of the culture I grew up in. We are friendly, both naturally and deliberately. I have met people from other cultures who encounter this friendliness and feel it to be not genuine or forced. Adopting friendliness in situations where it may feel unnatural is, I suppose, forced. What is wrong with people. The worst part is, given a bit of thought, we could all probably come up with a good answer. An even worser part is, we would probably see ourselves in that answer, but still have room to criticize. What ever it takes to save the world, I'm on board. I'm ready and willing.

The idea of seasons. It's vaguely foreign to me having grown up in a place which has really long summers, really brief Autumn and Spring, even more brief winters and a second winter in the middle of spring. It never rained, and thus the rain was adored. When it did come, it came in dramatic fashion, as though a part of a heroic tale.

I've been watching a lot of Dr. Who recently. Some episodes are dark. It makes me think of the past and things I would change. Emotions range from, I wish x,y,z had never happened, to I wouldn't be the same person if it hadn't.
