London

Jan 11, 2004 14:45

This time next year, in all likelihood, I will be living in London.
Thus far, I believe that London is the biggest city I have ever spent time in. I have never been to New York or Chicago. I have been to Moscow, which is the second largest city I have been to. I have been to Los Angeles which is the big city I have visited most often. ( Read more... )

It's funny because I haven't left this town much in the last...since I was born here. Still, the places I have gone, specifically Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Russia, have been amazing experiences. Going to the Soviet Union in 1988 was definately not like going to Disneyland.

of course, i am one of the many who accidentally hit enter after typing in just the "j" in the URL, and came accross your LJ. but your entry caught my eye because i've been thinking a lot about moving (i am stuck in the middle of the pacific on a really big rock-i notice you said you lived here before?). how is it that you decide where you will be moving? is it work related or just something you feel like doing? sorry, i don't mean to ask so many questions, i'm just curious. : )

Hawaii? j January 21 2004, 12:31:53 UTC
Does this mean you live in Hawaii? I never got to live there, merely stay there for a couple of weeks when I was 7.

My decision to leave Tucson is not an easy one. This is, to a certain extent, where I will always belong. But, I'm getting married to an English girl, and thus, I am moving to London. I've always preached to people that are here, and do not like it here, that they should learn about where they are, and become a part of the community, try and adapt to the local customs. They should learn their way around and support the town they are living in, so this will be what I intend to do. I'll always be an American, a Tucsonan, but I will also become Enlgish, though I haven't an English bone in my body, so to speak.

oopsie, i thought you actually lived here. yes, i'm stuck in honolulu. which actually isn't so bad, but i'm really tired of being here. lived here my whole life, but i'm getting restless. ultimately, this is where i want to live when i have a family one day, but for now i think i want to experience things before i settle down ( ... )

Big Cities? j January 21 2004, 13:40:39 UTC
So are you resigned to big cities then? Honolulu is only about the size of Tucson I think (population wise). There are some moderate sized cities that might be worth looking into. I've never been to NYC. I've been told I'd like it. I was told yesterday that Chicago is a great town. Personally, if money were no object, San Francisco is very very nice. Northern California is wonderfully laid back.

I suppose if I just wanted to get out of here, I'd do a lot of research. I loved New Orleans, but no way I'd live there. I've been told that if I had to live in Texas, Austin is the place to be.
