Why do I get the feeling he speaks Japanese and has tried my favorite sake?
Cartoons
Thanks to the miracle that is Sky+ (which I believe every man, woman and child should be entitled to for free) I just finished a long journey. It was Channel4's 100 Greatest Cartoons. It was fascinating. It was a lot to get through. At the end of it all I ( Read more... )

There is so much to see when one takes the time to look for it. It is odd how blind almost everyone is to nearly everything. Every time I have a realization and study something to even a little depth I realize there are 10,000 more things I know nothing about and have never taken the time to contemplate. I'd gladly accept your genie wish too.

I haven't spent much time in Phoenix for awhile. I used to go up there for the ball games and to visit family. I was kind of partial to the In N' Out Burger though. It was a cultural experience as well as a competent meal. I never tried anything off of their secret menu. There is an IMAX theater. I also love Trader Joe's, which is a kind of gourmet grocery store. It's a great place to get snacks. Oh, there is also Mill Avenue near the University. That's just a general hang out area (though it might be mostly for college kids). I'm getting kind of homesick when I think about it. Big city though. Very hectic. I'm much more of an authority on Tucson.

ah thanks. i think most of my time will probably be spent at the hotel. the biltmore? someone told me it's really nice. i just know i wanna book a facial or massage or something.

i LOVE trader joe's and in n' out! i wish they had those places here! i've only been to in n' out once, but LOVED it! and i'm not really a burger person either. i forgot all about that! i'm stopping off in CA on the way home from phoenix, so perhaps i'll make my friend take me when i'm there.

thanks for the ideas! how's london treating you these days?

London is a great city. London is not a city to be unemployed in though. I generally feel like I'm under house arrest, very little time spent outdoors except the store. That said though, once I do get on my feet so to speak (my wife is currently paying all our bills, while my mother is making credit card payments), this will be a city of almost limitless possibilities. For being the largest city in Europe, it is remarkably quaint and it seems like it would be easy to find your favorite place and hide when you need to and easy to find society in quantities when you want to. It's also not too hard to catch a train to take you anywhere in London, England, or the rest of Europe.

I never saw myself as much of a capital city man, but now that I'm here I could be comfortable if I have the right resources.

If you were a baseball fan, a good suggestion would be easy. My wife had never seen a game before, but she enjoyed it. Where in CA are you going?

random commentin from random person. I love anime. Princess Mononoke is not his best film. Spirited Away and Castle In The Sky are much better. Love the subtleties.

Do you get the subtleties in those movies? I would love to. It would make them totally different films. Instead of the sophisticated works of art they are, I always just thought they were creative and weird.

I've been trained by my anime fanatic older sister.
"So, it's a movie about a wolf girl?"
"No Alix, it's a movie about the destructive nature of guns, while also showing that not all people can be catogarized into good and evil, and due consideration has to be given to all their actions!"
"So that's what it's about?"
"Well, that's just the main moral. there are other layers too, which I will make you understand"
I've learnt that being confused doesn't mean you don't understand when it comes to anime...
