I felt such pangs for the loss of that early relationship Maddie had with her grandfather, when it was just the two of them every week and he was still fully capable. That is a huge thing for both of them to lose.
I loved the mixture of reality and fantasy here, where we suspect and finally learn unreservedly that they were always both the same. Only the grandfather knew it. The ending he got was so much richer than you could ever hope for anyone, let alone someone going through the twilight stages of dementia.
