My placement is going so much better than I thought it would be. But then, I was expecting evil little monsters who were going to shower me with hostility. Heh! Well, I'm a pessimist. The worst I got was this sweet, angelic kid going:

"Are you our supply teacher?"

"No."

"Well... good!"

I just laughed.

And Another Kid Story )

Yay, another person who can tell funny "kids say the darnedest things" stories. Hee :) I think I like "The Burnt Souls" best of that bunch. It just sounds mysterious and draws me in a bit.

And the disappearing text problem? You need to make three copies of the story and keep one in a fireproof box at least fifty feet from the original ;)

I like it, too.

But what about:

"The White Flame"

And how bad does "The Elysium Cult" sound for Book 2? Elysium is (supposed to be) a region of Heaven and often used just as a representation of heaven, in general, but, at the same time, derives from a word which means "struck by lightning". The latter has clear relevance to you-know-who, imo, with the former being relevant to the perfect world you-know-who wishes to bring about.

Oof. Cryptic language. I'm not smart enough for things like that at 11:30, but yes I think I follow. I really like the word Elysium, but I think in that form it's a noun. So if you were going to describe the cult, it'd be Elysian (which, for some reason, is a word I like even better. I must have a preference for the N sound over the M sound and have just discovered it) but I don't think you should use "cult." I'm sure if I thought long enough I could come up with a word that could also do that double meaning trick and equally apply to both people.

I still like "The Burnt Souls" :) It's so good!

Aye, I like it. But... a reader made the point that it's kind of negative. And if you were a parent, would you want your kid reading something that sounded as dark as "The Burnt Souls"?

The Elysian Cult is now my draft title. Thank you very much, Em!

You have school in summer? What age are you doing? Tell me all about it!
Maybe your computer/application can't handle the file size? You copied/pasted poorly?
What do you call your story in your head when you think about it?

We do! It doesn't end for another three weeks and a bit. I'm doing ages 11-16 at the moment. They're cool.

I call the story FtC, which stands for "For the Children", which is most likely going to be the overview title for the whole trilogy.

I think you mentioned the FtC thing once before, but I mean what do you call this part in your head to tell it apart from the other two that are coming? But I'm guessing there's not an answer to that.

I got your PM notification, but I can't read it because the Quill is down. I've been talking about you, though. Your ears should have been burning this morning. Hee.
