It's alright; better to know that sooner than later, right? Everyone back home should be alright. [For the most part, it really does sound like there's ... not much bothering him about the idea of being absent for a while, at least in that respect.]
That it's where I am...? [There's a moment as his Ralts pops up, peering at the screen; Jack shifts how he's sitting so the Gear is lower, where she can see easier.] And that I'm responsible for her, now, too.
[ Hi Jack. Keima is right next to you. He watched the exchange with the Ralts at your feet. ]
You're in New Bark Town in the world of Pokémon, which is a video game. There aren't any definitive ways out but there's a rumor that if you obtain all the badges you get to escape this place.
... One using electronics--you know, just realize that this world we're in is based on a game. You collect badges from defeating gym leaders in representative towns after defeating them in battle with your Pokémon [ Keima gestures to the Ralts ].
[ Keima then holds up his PokéGear. ]
You can use this device to determine what your Pokémon is and its types.
[ Keima flips his PokéGear open and points it at Ralts. A soft ping! is emitted from the device as a mechanical voice chirps: ] Ralts has the ability to sense the emotions of people. If its trainer is in a cheerful mood, this Pokémon grows cheerful and joyous in the same way.
[The word 'electronics' continues that "over head" bit; he's more than just dressed a little archaically. Being based on a game and skipping the technology makes ... marginally more sense but is still a bit confusing.]
[So, he's focusing on the parts that do make sense, and looking back at his Gear curiously.]
That's quite useful... although it seems a little cruel to send something like her into a fight. [Although, as much as she's sticking close to his leg, the subject of conversation hasn't ruffled her any and the first stray Rattata on the road is going to get a lesson.]

A what kind of a game? [Yep, that went right over his head. Oh, the joys of being pre-electricity!] And how would I get these "badges"?
