It's nice to know exactly what you want and comforting to have a general direction to walk in, even if you have only a vague notion of how to get there. Things are never really obvious, though, especially if they're right in front of you all along. Consider how silly I felt when I saw a brochure about Russia on a table representing some crappy law

Law degrees are indeed versatile. I considered law school after enjoying the legal research for my thesis, but then I didn't bother to apply anywhere. And eventually got into MIT. It's a mistake anyone could have made.
