I'd forgotten all about it. The icon photo was taken a couple of years before, when I was five and Mike three. We were in Oklahoma for Christmas, and Mike got a loud tin horn!
It had to have been the clicking of the "K" sound in "hark." Maybe the "K" in "newborn King," too.
It sounded like clatter and clicking to me (I can't articulate it), and why that reminded me of the crunch and sharp scent of pickles, I cannot remember, but I do recall how it charmed me!
I was entirely un-selfconscious in those days and never noticed myself much...My mother put my hair in curlers at night, which is why I had tight curls in my fine hair!
