You've certainly got the weather for Bergman! Lovely shawl.

Thank you, Karen, and Happy New Year! (Önskar dig ett gott nytt år)

Kate and I went to the Riverside Yarn Company, a little shop that features interesting yarns (the shop also has lama fur ready to spin that she gets from the zoos), and she had me pick out the yarn I wanted. I told her I wanted a snow-colored shawl, which to me was sparkling and white, and this is part angora and part acrylic (which makes it sparkle, and the angora is soft and has that lovely sheen to it), and then we went shopping for beads (I wanted bells, but Kate was right that the beads, being understated and almost unobservable, made a better--and quieter--statement!)

The part of the gift of that shawl to me was that she actually stayed up all night long on Christmas Eve to make it!

Önskar dig ett gott nytt år.

Bergman's films ALWAYS make my chest feel like there is lead in it,they make my breath hurt. Ithink I agree, not such a great idea to watch them when you aren't feeling all that well.

BEAUTIFUL shawl. Just the thing for when you feel...like a Bergman film.

Get better soon.

I am much better! Thank you! (I can taste again, a good sign!)

The shawl will be going with me to every fancy place. It is so soft!

Oh dear. You still have a cold?
And you watched Bergman? Fatal combination, Jackie!

The huge trees behind your garage look magnificent with the snow.

I hope you feel better and may 2011 be kind and gentle, dear Jackie!

PS I see the little glass beads on the shawl! So pretty and delicate ...

Would you believe the heavy trees are actually bamboo that has fallen over with snow-weight?

Kate has a lovely light touch with her crocheting and knitting.

I would believe it's bamboo as I've seen bamboo destroyed by ice storms but that bamboo is HUGE and looks like snow laden fir trees!

Aw, shucks.

Still not mastered, I think.

"Och" is "and" --maybe.

That was in the title.

Oh, are you sick, too? Or teasing me?

(You know, Swedish--unlike the totally (to me) incomprehensible sounds of Asian languages, is almost understandable and logical. It must be based on romance languages?)

Yeah, I just found one!

And while he can be depressing, he's also so rich, sumptuous--I can't explain.
