Final post

This is Kate writing one last time for Jackie, my mother. She passed away peacefully yesterday morning, January 3, at home. I held her hand.

Mom donated to Doctors Without Borders when she could, if anyone wants to donate in her name.

Hello Kate -- I am so very sorry to hear this. While I didn't know your mother well, I always enjoyed her writings and photos here on LJ, she was a very bright spot, always finding beauty in the simple things around her and inspiring us to find it as well. It's over 15 years since I first met Jackie on Usenet, and she's been a delight - smart, funny, imaginative and compassionate. The world is poorer without her. My heartfelt sympathy for you, and for all of us.
