Okay, so I've been getting into femslash a lot lately, thanks almost entirely to
cadence_k and
femslash_minis. (I've even found myself kinda "meh" about writing het of any kind.) The femslash love is not a bad thing, as a great deal of my fandom-loving flist would tell me. Even at the expense of het, although there are those who might debate that

Ummm... yeah. So, I'll be interested in other people's opinions.
Also? Yay for full-length femslash stories! Do you have something planned??

Also, I've got something else in mind, but I'm going to keep it a secret until it's done. ;)

The best thing I think you can do is to be true to what the characters would do, and don't worry so much about your audience.
As long as it's well written and in character, whatever you have your girls do will be fine, I'm sure.

I agree, though, it's a case of whatever turns you on. Personally, I think the idea of anyone using a strap-on, whether it's girl-on-girl or girl-on-guy, is teh hott. ;)

I think, if the message your fic transmits is "The only Real Sex is the one where there is a penis getting stuck into a vagina" then that would turn off some readers, I would think. (Especially if you write it like that, because, um, ick.)
*snorts* I spewed Diet Vanilla Coke all over my monitor when I read that. Thanks. *peers through the brown film to read the rest of the comment*
Will somebody be offended by it? Well, possibly, just like there'd be people offended by 100% vanilla girl!sex or by pretty much anything else. I wouldn't worry about that too much - you can't please everyone. :):)I do realize that, and the question was asked more in a "I want to know what you guys think on the subject" way than a "OMG am I going to piss off everybody in the known world if I have a girl using a penis-shaped object on another girl???" LOL I rarely worry about being offensive-hell, on a day-to-day basis I make it a point to be ( ... )

I guess I was more curious about this because of various college class discussions I've been a part of, where some of the angrier, more politically-minded women (lesbian, bi and straight) got off on tangents about how any phallic symbols are oppressive and meant to teach us that lesbianism is "wrong". I wondered if that was the general consensus, or are their grievances just a result of living in the city that houses Focus on the Family and the Air Force Academy? (Colorado Springs is a considerably Conservative town, and alternative lifestyle choices are preached as being morally wrong. Bah. *eyeroll*)
People are offended by all sorts of things, including what we do and don't call our girls' parts.
*snorts* Yeah, God forbid we use the word "pussy" and not be referring to a cat. ;)

I can't blame the town's conservativism for my mom's reservations about "an alternate lifestyle", since she's born and raised Christian, but listening to Focus on the Family's radio casts has firmly cemented it. :P There are times I have seriously considered bisexual experimentation (because I do love guys and could never completely give them up, but I have been attracted to a number of females and would like to at least give myself the opportunity to make an informed decision about what I want to do), but my mom would freak and disown me.
Gotta love people who attempt to regulate other people's lives and decisions through fear and disapproval. :P
