Slides! Egad. I've pondered quite a few times that I wish I'd got into wildlife photography much earlier - and then I count the number of shots I may go through on a busy rabbiteering afternoon, and the number of rolls I'd've had to exchange.. or indeed, the excitement of knowing I've just caught a particularly noteworthy moment, and can post a quick version of it within minutes, if I want. ^_^ (I can wait, and indeed, often seem to find myself in that position, but I'd rather not ( ... )

I never had a problem with the cost of film for travel. 50 rolls of film for a month in Madagascar was just part of my vacation budget. But digital photography has really enabled me to do a lot more photography of local wildlife (without having to figure out how to make money from it!)

I sometimes think I was a better photographer when I was shooting film. Digital photography has made me lazy. It's too easy to fix stuff in digital post-processing, instead of taking the time to get it right when taking the photo. (This photo uses fill-flash, because the lemur is in deep shade with a super-bright background. I haven't used fill-flash in ages. With digital photos, I would be using Lightroom to try and bring out shadow detail, and it wouldn't have been as good.)

I, because I am a sane person, was only in Madagascar during the dry season, when the roads are just bumpy and not actively trying to kill you :)
