So, LJ, my userpics and image uploads are broken. What is going on?
In other news, I found a new location for otters. Yay! Las Gallinas Wildlife Ponds (which is officially the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District Reclamation Area, so these otters are actually living in treated sewage, but we try not to think about that too much).

Medical stuff. Also foxes.
Q: What does a ruptured appendix feel like?
A: Well, that was an interesting sudden tiny explosion happening somewhere down in my abdomen. And there it is again. And OMFGwhatisthissomuchpainandmychestisonfireandI'mjustgoingtogocollapsenowand .. *whimper*
So, that happened. I had emergency surgery and was in hospital for a week.

This is how squirrels do courtship:
Male squirrel: Want sex now!
Female squirrel: I only mate with squirrels that can defeat me in paw-to-paw combat.
Male squirrel: Oh baby, you are on!
*fighting and sex happens*

Rodents of Yosemite #2 & #3: Chipmunks!
Depending on where you live, chipmunk identification is either dead easy (for most of the eastern USA, the only chipmunk you might see would be an eastern chipmunk), or very very tricky. Rodents of Yosemite #1 : Yellow-Bellied Marmot
Somebody once told me that Olmsted Point is the place to go to look for Yosemite's marmots, so every time since that I've been to Yosemite, I've visited Olmsted Point and looked for marmots. I found plenty of marmots in other places, but never any at Olmsted Point.

Otters of Rodeo Lagoon
A photo from this morning. Just as the sun comes over the hills, the water turns to gold and the otters appear. It's like magic!
