Misc. Updates

I realized I never posted a follow-up to the whole Crazy debacle.  I met with the admin boss, L, who more or less took my side.  She told me she understood why I reacted the way I did, and that she's tired of all the gossipy-sorts that populate the admin world.  She also said she told Crazy that she should be nice to me, and that I had every right ( Read more... )

For some reason I missed the whole Crazy debacle but I just went back and read them all and holy shit. Bitch is crazy. I'm glad your supervisor took your side.

Maybe I need to listen more but I just can't get into Vampire Weekend. Love the Kooks though...my other recent obsession: Cold War Kids. Was it you who told me about them?

Crazy has actually been nice to me today, not sure why. Her motives are always self-serving, so I'm sure she wants something from me.

I told you about the Kooks, but not CWK. I'll have to check them out this weekend.

Okay so I have been extremely lax in reading LJ. So I went back several posts of yours and holy moly! Firstly, congrats on your promotion! That's great. Secondly congrats on your upcoming trip to Scotland! I've always wanted to go and am extremely jealous! : )
But I've worked in an office environment long enough to know about those gossipy admin types too. I think you handled the situation really well and I hope that things get calmer there. Just congrats and good job all around! : )

Thanks and thanks! We got a great deal on Scotland through our timeshare. We're busy trying to find waterproof jackets and whatnot.

This is probably the first time I've been thankful to have L as the boss. Her position was created a year ago, and I've always viewed it as just another level of bureaucracy, since I still have my three partners to answer to. If I'd had to rely on the partners, I'm guessing they would have just found a way to sweep it under the rug. The powers-that-be don't seem to recognize Crazy for what she is.

I'm glad L seems to have a sympathetic ear. I've become friends with a few of the admin types in my department. They too are a gossipy bunch. Good people, though, and I realized a while ago I could learn a lot from them. They've been on campus for a long time and know things about some of the "beautiful people" that I'd never learn otherwise. So I keep my ears open and my mouth shut. But I've called out one gal in particular who will start to talk about my team and stifle herself. (She'd say something, fishing for a reply before continuing; I'd ask her to continue, and she'd say, "Well, I can't tell *you.*" This leaves me to wonder why she bothered to bring it up in the first place.) A minor irritation, that's all ( ... )
