Ok. Lessee now. Easter was nice. Went to London for a week, stayed in a hostel for 3 nights then crashed at a friend of a friends place for the rest of the time. Did the touristy stuff, saw Westminster, St Paul's, Tate Modern, wandered around the city for a while. Yet again. After the promise of free beer was (as half expected) revealed to be a beautiful mirage shining from across the north sea, we headed out to a pub. Am currently at a party in the medical building cafeteria. Music is shite and drinks are exy but scenery is admittedly quite impressive. Got here around 10pm and virtually noone here but hotted up (quite literally, stepped out for a breather) around 11.30. Went out to a bar last night (it could've been transplanted to anywhere in the world and blended in perfectly: poor lighting, old music paraphenalia on the walls, bare concrete floor, etc.) I'm the first to admit I'm not much of a beer drinker but this stuff really was cat's piss. Finally managed to get i-net access. Whew...it's been quite an experience. Everything is very expensive here (i paid $6 for a cup of coffee,) but the supermarket nearby the residences is reasonable. Met an English bloke who isn't as fazed by the prices so i'll have to be careful if i go to the uk ( Read more... )
