Back in 2002 I displayed some ads for a medicine sales company. They then sold the address. Since then that has resulted in 73,099 spam emails. I received few of them because the email address I gave them was one of those from spamgourmet.com and all I had to do to block them was turn off the email address. Recommended. The secret behind the LiveJournal deal with S U P has finally been revealed. It is part of a last effort to save humanity from werewolves, encouraging them to post online so that S U P can track them down via their IP addresses and geographic IP lookup.

LiveJournal introduced a new navigation strip, providing the user viewing a page with options for navigation. Oddly, even though it provides user-specific navigation, any other user or community can override the viewing preference of the person viewing the page, forcing them to get the navbar if they have turned it off. Brion is prototyping dbzip2, a networked parallel bzip2 implementation that runs 7 times as fast as a single CPU version in initial tests on 10 servers. Intended for compressing the big database dumps W i k i p e d i a produces. 7zip may be tried next.
