Studying Music Production at University would give me the opportunity of obtaining a degree, whilst at the same time doing something I love. I am avidly interested in Music Production and seriously hope to pursue a career in this field.

I decided to study Music Technology at 6th Form College, because it seemed like a fun but fascinating subject ( Read more... )

i'm not 100% sure what a 'personal statement' should be like so I'm sorta assuming it's the...'why i want to study in this uni, this program, and why i feel that it is right for me/i'm right for it' thingy ( ... )

VERY helpful, thankyou ^_^

a Personal Statement is a section of text stating why you want to study the course, why you would be good for the course, and a general background. it has to be a BIT detailed cause you dont send off a CV, just a UCAS form, which is personal details and work/education history (hence ive mentioned instrument exams and extra-curricular music/and stuff, but not my school & college exam results).

ill definitely take your comments into account, THANKYOU!

At the risk of sounding like a right pain (and remembering that we don't know each other at all) are you sure the world needs yet another music tech graduate?

I have cubase, and I treat it like a portastudio - I haven't got a clue what all the buttons do, and I'm full of respect for those who not only know how to use it, but can also get decent music out of the other end. But there are lots of those people, most of them using setups like you have at home, and who have learnt as they go.

The only friend I have who did music tech is a guy called Wayne Mansell, who was a whizz at all that stuff, and who played bass like no-one I've ever seen (including fretless). However, as you can see from his imdb entry, he's working in films one rung below the electricians. He couldn't make a living at music tech despite his talents ( ... )

I don't know Katherine other than through LJ and MSN, but we chat now and again.

My name is Matthew, and I've done quite a bit of work for Sanofi-Aventis. I don't know if you live/work near or in Guildford, but their office is the pointy bit on the end of the Priory Centre. With the spiral staircase on the end. The one you'd pass at lunchtime if (like me) you were going to Anderton's to play on the V-drums.

I read about your courses at the Academy and I thought "small world!".

i live in cranleigh (about 20 minutes out of guildford), but guildford is my town, socially.

i work in artington, just outside of guildford (on the road to godalming). and i know the office you work in.

small world indeed!
