Except for doing rounds and attending to the other functions he was committed to in the hospital, Wilson had for the most part retreated to his office for the day. For a man who usually kept his door open, an unspoken invitation for anyone who needed to, to stop in the firmly closed door spoke volumes to his staff and anyone who knew him well.

He stopped when he saw the look look of frustration and anger on Wilson's face. Closing his mouth, he leaned on his cane, and stared at his friend for what seemed like a very, very long moment.
"What is it?"

Another thing to kick myself in the ass about.
Giving his head a shake, he gave House the direct answer. "Kai asked me to give his file to another doctor."
He doesn't want to be my patient any longer.
Exhaling softly, he pulled the legal pad towards him, picking up the pen and then looked up at House, working a smile onto his face.
"Benson is going to .... ?"

House was going to ask why. Did Kai think he was inadequate? But that was untrue, Wilson was far from inadequate. What other reasons where there? His diagnostician mind worked.
And he came up with: Kai liked Wilson. So it had to be, because of that.
"Kai couldn't handle his feelings for you." It was a guess.

Still, the fakeness went out of him and he slumped back in the chair, waving House towards the comfortable arm chair he'd pushed through requisition specifically for his old friend.
"Yeah." Quiet confirmation of the diagnosis. "I... knew the crush was there but that's almost like... Stockholm syndrome, I'm his doctor and it happens but I thought...no I'm sure he understood that I didn't reciprocate it and so I didn't transfer his case back then. But I didn't understand how...deep it went, I wasn't paying attention and I didn't realize he was in danger of getting hurt until..."
A graceful gesture with his hand towards the legal pad where he was writing up the referal recommendation.
