I just don't like the taste of it in the crock pot, or maybe it's just the seasoning, with the onion soup mix, but I like it in the stove better. Maybe this one just didn't cook quite as long or something. I always thought chuck roast was the way to go???

...and a free roasting pan!? Dang! I'm actually on the market for one.

Sorry it wasn't as tasty as the one your mom made. How did you cook it?

I just put it in the pan on the stove, and added onion, garlic, salt and pepper and browned it on both sides. Then I added beef broth, and cooked it in the oven for like 2 hours, then added the carrots and potatoes and cooked it for another hour and a half and done!

Hmm..and it didnt fall apart? Maybe it would have if it was cooked at a lower temp for a longer amount of time. In either case, was still a good deal esp with all the goodies!

I love roast - not sure the kind my mom buys, but all I do is put a little bit of water in (I make it in the crockpot) and the pototes/carrots etc.. and cook it for 12 hours!
