Hi Cats.  Sorry for the long absence.  Here’s what’s been going on.  I had not heard from the doctor concerning my eye in over a week, so I called the doc today and her secretary.  Apparently my doctor has yet to see the results of the last spinal tap and so it seems as though I had waited a week for nothing.  Hopefully I will indeed hear something ( Read more... )

It just keeps going.  Last Wednesday I had a spinal tap to determine if one of my medications was affecting my sight.  However, ever since the spinal tap I have been having pains in my lower back.  They are sharp pains, very similar to the pains I encountered during the spinal tap.  Today I was supposed to have another spinal tap w/ x-rays, but ( Read more... )

First the bad news.  I had a spinal tap on Wednesday and they could not get any of the fluid out, so they have to do it again next Friday w/ X-Rays so that they can see what they are doing.  Meanwhile my right eye seems to have stabilized a bit.

Okay, Cats.  Here goes.  They ruled out the bone deformity today w/ a CT scan, so that is not putting pressure on the optic nerve and we are now down to two options according to the doc.  It could be a medication that I’m taking that is causing the pressure in the spinal fluid, so to determine that I have to have a spinal tap.  That’s next ( Read more... )

Hi Cats!

Here’s the latest.  I saw a Dr. at UNC yesterday and my optic nerve is swollen. We knew that.  They suspect that the nerve us swollen due to the bone socket growing and pressing in on the optic nerve.  I’m to have a CT scan tomorrow to determine if that is indeed the cause.  If it’s not the cause, the swelling could be due to one of my ( Read more... )

just wanted to give you all a progress report.  The docs got back to me w/ the results of the MRI and they are referring me to UNC Chapel Hill, where I usually go for my medical needs.  They have a suspicion of what is causing the problems w/ my right eye, but they want UNC to check me out first.  I really don't have any other info than that except ( Read more... )

I had an open MRI today and it went much better. It was still a bit claustrophobic, but I was able to deal with it much better.  Anyway, now I play the waiting game.  Thanks to everyone who has written.
