I have to confess that I actually read the draft multiple times just because it was a genuinely delightful story, even in draft form and the final version is just fantastic.
The Travis/Bill friendship!! *flails* Honestly, all of the friendshippy bits in here made me insanely flaily, but especially the casually supportive way that Travie just accepted Bill and didn't really treat him any different.
The passage of time between the flashbacks and the present was fantastic. I just ... even the little details, like the fact that Bill called him Adam then and Sisky now were so wonderfully consistent. And then the dancing around each other and the confusion and silly Bill thinking that Patrick was straight and just \0/ for the whole thing.
(And I am SO happy that you liked the mix! My musical taste can run towards the eclectic, so the fact that you listened to it while editing kind of thrills me to pieces. ♥)
I'm kind of embarrassed by the draft -so many typos!- so I'm glad I have the finished version for you to see now.
I really do kind of adore Travis and his interaction with Bill and... actually, pretty much every one, so it's nice getting an excuse to write him. I'm also relieved that the flashbacks worked, that they didn't clash with the current story.
Thank you again for the mix. I love having an excuse to listen to new music and the playlist really does work together, even though the styles of the songs are different.
Hey - creepy lurker here. I really loved this story - probably one of the best so far. It was complex without being too trippy, had humor in all the right places, and was completely believable! Thank you for your obvious efforts and I hope I get to read more of you!
I'm pretty sure that once you introduce yourself, you lose creepy lurker status. I'm glad the story worked for you and that it made sense to the world outside my head.
This is not a pairing I ever thought I'd read, but you made it believable (despite the elements of fantasy!) and heart-wrenching. Really lovely story :)
