ok good.. I just talked to Peggy and they are preparing to evacuate.  *sigh of relief*  She said it is getting somewhat.. ummm don't know the word for it.  A lot of the gas stations are out of gas, there are VERY long lines at the stations that still have gas, 7 hours to drive 45 miles on the interstate, all interstate lanes are now north bound ( Read more... )

;-; I wish I lived off base. They could have my bed, and I'd sleep on the pile of laundry.

That's sweet of you, son *hugs*

I told her that if they wanted to go to Dallas, I'd make sure they'd have a place to stay. I'd call my uncles and they'd provide housing for them. They are going some place north of Austin near some lake, but I don't remember where.

I suppose if it could be said that anything good came from Katrina, this would be it...people are probably more then ok with leaving after seeing the type of destruction a storm this size (Katrina and Rita are 4 and 5, respectivly, of the most powerful gulf storms ever, says NOAA.) can do...so hopefully there were be less loss of life then Katrina.

But if I was from NOLA right now I'd be going "goddamit, not AGAIN!!." And NOLA is under a tropical storm warning...not that bad normally, but with the damage that's already been done and such. who knows how it's going to work...

Isn't Galveston where that really powerful storm hit in the 30's or so...?

I've been keeping as close of an eye on this storm as possible and it's not looking very good for Galveston and Houston right now ( ... )

Hey girl,
Did all your relatives come through this ok? My aunt lives in College Station, she had to evacuate...but all is well, thank goodness:)
I hope you're alright. Sorry to see people have given you grief here...:( Sometimes, that's exactly why I take a hike. I may not get blasted in 'quite' the same way; (there are many ways to hurt someone;) but i've certainly found my share of shit to walk away from around here.
Dont let it get to you too much. Hang in there....stay posative!
My pc is down; i'm on a public computer, so i'm not sure when, but I will write. Meanwhile, if you want to write, blow off steam or whatever, feel free. I will not judge you on anything. Promise:)
