I haven't really seen any Woody Allen movies that aren't from at least 20 years ago, so I went to watch Blue Jasmine after seeing a review for it. Part of it too was the setting -- San Francisco. The apartment wall had these tiny markings that looked like fingernail imprints. I don't know how they got there but the roommate and I thought they were rather freaky, especially since it's a whole bunch of them.
