First up: the symbolism of this piece was really nicely done. The flower could have been anywhere else - I was actually expecting it in a vase or something - but you made it (brilliantly!) as Yao's scar. And Kiku seeing the flower (even when/if it's not actually there) and then immediately jumping to the symbolism!conclusion is just... just so in-character and endearingly so

This was actually originally written in response to a prompt for Yao as a eunuch, so I can't take all the credit for the idea. It just really grabbed me though and seemed very him. I love making Yao strong, I love the idea of him having a body most people might consider damaged and still being strong and proud about it.

The repetitive word use during the sex scenes was totally non intentional and I'm so glad you pointed it out because after the many, many times I've read over this I hadn't caught on to it. I went back and changed some stuff and hopefully it reads better, and more sexy now.

I love this pairing, and I always have so much fun when I write them.

It's definitely more sexy now! xD And yes, I appreciate (and absolutely share) your idea in Yao being strong - Yao having pride - in the face of physical defects. You make a possibly-crash-and-burn-idea fly; so congrats for that. *goes back to reread*

Beautifully written.

It started out so sweetly, and then moved to more serious topics, and I like how you handled everything really smoothly, letting their emotions get the better of them at times, letting them (particularly Kiku) overreact just that little bit, and yet... keeping them so steadfastedly IC all the same.

Definitely my favorite line: "had been so many things to Kiku, beloved older brother, enemy, obsession" - or maybe this one? "Strange, Kiku thinks, to be so terribly in love, but not unwanted after all." - both of them definitely hit the 'awwww' button for me. <3

As for the idea of Yao being an eunuch, I totally never thought about that! It's very interesting, I like your take of his take (meta-analysis, much? xD) but I think some background (outside of Kiku's speculation) would've been nice. I might be asking for too much but ...maybe in a follow-up fic?

I would love to do a sequel sometime, the whole idea of Yao being a eunuch really interests me and I think there is lots more that I can do with that. I'm also in love with the idea of the two of them being in a secret relationship with each other.

I'm appreciating the characterizations, I'm liking the sexysexytimes that you're having Yao and Kiku have (together! with minimal amounts of their customary angst! and in-character, oh but this must be an alternate universe! xD) - but I'm LOVING the idea of Yao being an eunuch.

Very unique, very original, and very nice take on how Kiku would react, and how Yao would not.

In short - very nice piece. Hope you write more/looking forward to seeing more!

I love angst and making my characters suffer but there is something about this pairing that makes me want to see them happy while still being true to their character and history.

I can't take total credit for the idea of Yao being a eunuch kecen originally came up with the what if. After writing this though I really love it and it's become my own personal headcannon that he is.
