"Man Babies" was really good. Like you, most of the people I was in the theatre with didn't seem to pay attention to the actual plot of the film, but hopefully unlike you, they had to then discuss what the hell was going on the entire film, or read every sign in the film as if it was major plot development. "Oh," exclaims the old man, "it says 'Homeland Security'." Old people in movie theatres are the worse.
But what a starkly beautiful film.
Unfortunataly, I'm not sure hell or high water will ever make Brendan actually fulfill sad/happy movie day promises. But I keep trying to drag him out to the real movies. And offering to watch movies with him. Alas - I just keep kicking his ass at any form of movie pong.
I played plenty of attention to the plot once I was inside the theater, I just hadn't really been properly prepared for what I was getting into going in.
I did find a lot of the graffiti to be very funny, though. The billboard which read "Will the last one to die please turn off the lights" hit just the right spot on the Dark Humorometer.
But yeah, I really enjoyed the bulk of the movie, though I could have dealt with a little more denouement. The climax and credits were way too close together for my tastes, but I guess that's part of the point.
And the problem with Sad/Happy movie days is that 1) you have to watch sad movies, and 2) you have to watch two movies. In a row! That kills at least a good 4 hours (probably more, Sad movies can never just spit it out). So scheduling might be tricky.
Especially when that could be 4 hours of Halo 2 or Guitar Hero.
