Most IVR Software as written, work only with specific voice cards in the market and in most cases this is limited to the voice cards of a single vendor. I have always felt that only simple, focused and easy to understand concepts catch on quickly. Take XML for example. The benefits of using XML as a data description standard for data exchange between applications is now well understood.
