Re-reading through all of this, I want to be clear that I'm not trying to turn anyone off Whedon or his works. It's fine to be a fan, and it's fine to be a fan of problematic things (see my list of problematic fandoms, above). I just think it's important to recognize the issues and call out the shit when we see it.
